چکیده

The expression of Ca antigen in ovarian epithelial tumours has been studied by an immunohistochemical technique using the Ca 1 monoclonal antibody. The antigen was found to be present in some examples of each of the histological subtypes of ovarian epithelial neoplasms and was detected in benign, borderline and malignant tumours. It is concluded that the presence of Ca antigen is of no discriminatory value in the assessment of malignancy in ovarian epithelial neoplasms.

Guidelines for CA-125 Requesting

The best available marker for epithelial ovarian cancer is still considered to be CA-125 due to a combination of reliability and general availability. HE4 is more sensitive than specific than CA-125, however the former is not in routine use. NICE still therefore recommends CA-125 rather than HE4. CA-125 is used for the diagnosis of epithelial ovarian cancer. αFP and βHCG are useful for identify...

A case study of assessment of CA-125 levels in the rural population of Kanpur

The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of ovarian cancer in the industrial hub of Uttar Pradesh. A total of 50 samples were collected and estimated for CA-125 by Sandwich Method. CA-125 [Cancer antigen 125 or carbohydrate antigen 125 or Mucin 16] is a high molecular mass glycoprotein recognized by the monoclonal antibody OC 125 and encoded by MUC 16 gene. It contains 24% carbohydrate...

Identification of Malignant Cells in Serous Fluids Using a Panel of Monoclonal Cytokeratin Antibodies, Epithelial Membrane Antigen(EMA) , Carcino Embryonic Antigen (CEA)

Abstract Background and Objective: Identification of malignant cells and the type of malignancy in Effusionsis very important. The main aim of this study was to differentiate between reactive mesothelial cells and malignant cells and to determine the type of the tumor cells in effusions with the aid of tumor markers Creatine Kinase (CK), EMA and CEA. Material and Methods: Forty serous flui...

An immunohistochemical study of distribution of carcinoembryonic antigen in epithelial tumours of the ovary.

An immunohistochemical study of the tissue CEA content of 82 epithelial neoplasms of the ovary has shown that mucinous tumours contain more of this substance than do their serous counterparts; otherwise a knowledge of tissue CEA content appears to be of little value in the differential histological diagnosis of this group of neoplasms. Among mucinous tumours there is only a partial corresponden...

Immunohistochemical Characterization of Normal Ovary and Common Epithelial Ovarian Neoplasm with a Monoclonal Antibody to Cytokeratin and Vimentin

Background & Objective: The common epithelial ovarian tumors are classified into serous, mucinous, clear cell, endometrioid, the Brenner, mixed, and undifferentiated types. Cytoskeleton intermediate filament composition of ovarian tissues indicates that the cytokeratin and vimentin are observed in ovarian surface epithelium along with the common ovaria...
